Nonmotorized Pathway Proposal Information
Our neighborhood has the opportunity for our trails to be connected to the DeWitt Township Non-Motorized Pathway system! Over the years, the township has worked aggressively to implement their planned vision in connecting the community through a variety of different pathways including shared use paths, sidewalks, bicycle lanes, and paved shoulders.
The project proposes the continuation of a shared use path connection from Saffron Hills property, utilizing a portion of our existing cleared trails, east of the HOA wooded space, running along I-69, and connecting to Clark Road. The township has already secured a signed easement from the neighboring property. Together, this connection would provide residents with about a mile of new paved pathway and the ability for residents to connect to Schavey Plaza, DeWitt schools, Old US 27 shopping area, downtown DeWitt, and more by nonmotorized transportation. Additionally, the township representatives have confirmed that this project would include the installation of benches, trash cans, private property signage, and split-rail fencing where the Board of Directors sees essential. This new pathway will be maintained on an ongoing basis by DeWitt Township.
For this proposed project to happen, our HOA Members would need to grant an easement, or right to use, to DeWitt Township. Per our Declaration of Covenants, Restrictions, and Grant of Easements, this project would require two-thirds (2/3) of the total possible votes of Members and written notice of the proposed agreement and action thereunder, to be sent to every Member at the Member’s designated address at least ninety (90) days in advance of any action taken.
